Frequently Asked Questions

If you are seeing “BookBuy Express is not buying this book,” when entering the ISBN, it is likely due to one of the following factors:

  • Your book is an old edition
  • Your book is in low demand
  • We’ve already maxed out our stock of your book

To cancel/reschedule your appointment, email admin@bookbuyexpress.ca and include the word “cancellation” or “rescheduling” in the subject. If you’re cancelling, please do so by 11:59pm the Friday before your scheduled pickup in order to be refunded your $7 driver deposit.

Although we specialize in university and college material, we also buy other books including high school textbooks, trade codebooks and more. We’ll buy any book that meets our criteria and is in acceptable condition. Just enter in your ISBN to find out!

Bookbuy Express does not purchase loose-leaf textbooks.

We are currently piloting our service in Windsor and London Ontario. The specific postal regions we cover are:

We pick up textbooks on Saturdays between 12 and 4pm. You will receive reminders by text and email the Friday before and the morning of, as well as text notifications when the driver is on route to your stop and in the case of a porch pickup, after it is completed. For more information about our buyback process, please refer to our terms of service.

To ensure seamless, efficient pickups and to better serve you, Bookbuy Express only issues payments by e-transfer. If you are not currently setup with a banking institution or are otherwise unable to use online banking, please send us an email at admin@bookbuyexpress.ca and we will do our best to accommodate you using another form of payment.

If you are not certain that you’ll be home during the 12-4pm pickup window, or if for any other reason you’d prefer no contact with the pickup driver, we suggest you choose the “porch pickup” option at checkout. For a porch pickup, you can leave books on your porch, in the mailbox, in a bag hanging on the doorknob or anywhere else in clear view of the pickup driver. Please be mindful of the weather when choosing a location, and bag and protect as is fit. If your book will be left in a location that will not be immediately obvious to our driver such as between the screen door and main door to your home, please leave the information in the “pickup notes” section at checkout. If the location is difficult to describe, please send a picture to admin@bookbuyexpress.com with “porch pickup” in the subject and reference your order number somewhere in the message. If you live in an apartment and entrust your textbook to the front desk or any other area that must be accessed, please inform us in the pickup notes and leave the buzz code (if needed) as well. We leave choosing a location up to your discretion but as per our terms and conditions, we take no responsibility for books lost or damaged in porch pickups so please choose wisely. If at any time you would like to change the status of your pickup from a porch pickup to a hand off or vice versa, send us an email and we will update it for you. If our driver arrives and cannot find your textbook, they will knock and/or try calling you.
